In 1953, Pastor John Wallace and members of the Felix Memorial Baptist Church (now Parkway Baptist Church) began a mission work in our community called Meadowthorpe Baptist Chapel.

{Excerpt: Taken from their weekly newsletter}

“Our church has undertaken a worthy mission venture within our own city.  We are now sponsoring a mission in the Meadowthorpe subdivision.  It is called the “Meadowthorpe Baptist Chapel”.  This work will take the best of our prayers and work and money, but if we sow, so shall we reap – let us sow bountifully and God will give a gracious harvest”

On June 26, 1955, an organizational meeting was held at the Meadowthorpe Baptist Chapel.  Interested pastors attending were O.W.Yates, O’Ray Weeks and John Wallace.  The name Meadowthorpe Baptist Church name was given and it began with seventeen (17) chartered members.  They made a motion and adopted the New Hampshire Confession of Faith and adopted and read the Church Covenant
